The Angry Owl and the Grasshopper

One day, there was an old tree in which lived an angry and fierce owl. This was especially true if anyone disturbed its sleep during the day. At night, they woke up and searched with their calls for insects, frogs, mice, and beetles to eat.

One afternoon during the summer, the Owl was fast asleep in its tree hole. However, suddenly a Grasshopper started singing. The Owl was disturbed by this and told the Grasshopper to leave.

"Hey, get out of here, you Grasshopper! Don't you have any manners to disturb the sleep of an old person?"

However, the Grasshopper replied rudely that it also had rights to the tree. It even sang with an even louder voice. The Owl realized that arguing would be useless. Furthermore, its eyes were still dim during the daytime, so it could not punish the Grasshopper.

Finally, the Owl thought of a way to punish the Grasshopper. It poked its head out of the tree hole and spoke very kindly.

"Hello, Grasshopper, if I stay awake, I will surely hear you sing. Do you know that I have some nectar here? If you want some, come over. By drinking this nectar, your voice will become like Apollo's, as this is a gift from Olympus."

Finally, the Grasshopper was carried away by the Owl's flattery and praise. It immediately jumped into the nest, and because the Owl could now clearly see the Grasshopper with its eyes, the Grasshopper was instantly snatched and eaten by the Owl.
