Once upon a time, deep in a green forest, there lived three bears: Papa Bear, who was huge; Mama Bear, who was medium-sized; and Baby Bear, who was tiny and small. Every morning, they made delicious porridge for breakfast. One sunny day, the porridge was too hot to eat, so they decided to go for a walk in the forest while it cooled down.
The Curious Visitor
Not long after they left, a little girl named Goldilocks walked by. She was a curious child with bright, golden hair. When she saw the beautiful house, she knocked on the door. No one answered. So, she opened the door and walked right in!
On the kitchen table, she saw three bowls of porridge. Her tummy rumbled, so she decided to taste them. First, she tasted the porridge from Papa Bear’s big bowl, but she cried because it was too hot. Next, she tasted the porridge from Mama Bear’s medium bowl, but she sighed because it was too cold. Finally, she tasted the porridge from Baby Bear’s tiny bowl. She smiled happily because it was just right, and she ate it all up until the bowl was completely empty.
After eating, Goldilocks felt tired. She walked into the living room and saw three chairs, so she decided to rest her legs. First, she sat in Papa Bear’s big chair, but she grumbled because it was too hard. Next, she sat in Mama Bear’s medium chair, but she complained because it was too soft. Finally, she tried Baby Bear’s tiny chair and cheered because it felt just right. But just as she settled in to relax, the chair made a loud crack and broke into pieces, throwing Goldilocks right onto the floor!
Goldilocks was still very sleepy, so she walked upstairs to the bedroom to find a place to rest. First, she lay down on Papa Bear’s big bed, but it was too high at the head. Next, she lay down on Mama Bear’s medium bed, but it was too high at the foot. Finally, she lay down on Baby Bear’s tiny bed. It felt absolutely perfect, so she pulled up the covers, closed her eyes, and fell fast asleep.
Soon, the three bears returned from their walk, feeling very hungry. They looked at the table and gasped! Papa Bear growled in his great, big voice that someone had been eating his porridge. Mama Bear noticed her bowl too and said someone had been eating her porridge. Then, Baby Bear looked at his tiny bowl and cried in his squeaky voice because someone had eaten his porridge all up.
The bears walked into the living room to investigate. Papa Bear growled that someone had been sitting in his chair, and Mama Bear said someone had been sitting in her chair, too. Baby Bear looked at the floor and cried because someone had been sitting in his chair and broke it into pieces.
Finally, the bears went upstairs to the bedroom. Papa Bear growled that someone had been sleeping in his bed, and Mama Bear saw her messy blankets and said someone had been sleeping in her bed, too. Then Baby Bear looked at his bed and squeaked in surprise because someone was sleeping in his bed, and she was still there!
A Lesson Learned
Baby Bear's voice woke Goldilocks up. She opened her eyes and saw three angry bears staring down at her! Goldilocks was terrified. She jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs as fast as she could, dashed out the front door, and disappeared into the forest. From that day on, Goldilocks learned her lesson. She never entered anyone else's house without asking again, and she always remembered her manners!
