Timun Mas and the Green Giant

Once upon a time, in a village located on the edge of a dense forest, lived a beautiful girl named Timun Mas. That name was given by her parents because she was miraculously born from a cucumber seed. As a child, Timun Mas often felt different from other children. She had lustrous black hair like the night, smooth skin that glowed like gold, and eyes that always radiated curiosity. However, there was something that made her feel uneasy. Since she was little, she had always heard stories about a cruel Green Giant who lived deep within the forest.

The Green Giant was famous for his cruelty. He had a massive, enormous body; his skin was a mossy greenish-blue, with fiery red eyes that could pierce the darkness. The entire forest feared him. The Giant possessed incredible strength, able to fell large trees with just a single palm strike. No animal or human dared to approach his dwelling, because anyone who dared step there never returned.

According to the stories, the Green Giant had ruled the forest for years, making all living creatures within it live in terror. He didn't just frighten people; he also kidnapped villagers and took them into his dark caves. Every time someone disappeared, there was only one name that was always mentioned: "The Green Giant."

Timun Mas often heard these stories from her mother, who always reminded her to stay away from the forest. "Timun Mas, my child, never, ever go into the forest alone. The Green Giant is very dangerous. He can smell humans from far away," her mother's warning was always accompanied by a look full of worry.

However, even though Timun Mas had been warned many times, a deep sense of curiosity always unsettled her heart. What truly happened in the forest? Why was the Giant so cruel? Was there any way to stop the horror he caused?

One day, her mother suddenly fell ill. A healer who came to the village said that the only way to cure her mother was to bring a very rare medicine—a medicine that could only be found deep inside the dangerous forest. To get the medicine, Timun Mas had to search for a magical plant that grew near the Green Giant's cave. Having no other choice, Timun Mas decided to go.

With hesitant steps, Timun Mas left her home on a still-cloudy morning. Before leaving, her mother gave her a small pouch containing magical tools given by a kind old shaman. "My child, if you meet the Green Giant, use these tools to protect yourself. This is our last hope," her mother advised while handing over the pouch.

With strong resolve, Timun Mas stepped into the forest. Every step she took felt heavier, as if the ground beneath her feet was trying to hold her back. She passed large trees that blocked her path, and the deeper she walked into the forest, the quieter the surroundings became. There was no sound of animals or the blowing wind. The forest felt terrifying, as if eyes were watching her every move.

Midway through her journey, Timun Mas arrived at a very dark crossroads. Suddenly, she sensed that something was different. A rustling of leaves was heard, and it was as if a fast-moving shadow crossed in front of her. The tension made her heart beat rapidly. She stopped and looked around. Suddenly, a voice echoed from within the forest.

"Hahaha! You humans always want to test your courage. But this time, you have dared to come too far!"

The voice sounded very loud and terrifying. Timun Mas turned towards the source of the sound, and she was shocked to see the figure of the Green Giant emerge from behind the trees. The Giant's body was huge, bigger than the surrounding trees, and his moss-green skin added to the frightening impression. His fiery red eyes stared at Timun Mas with a sharp, hateful gaze.

"Why have you come here, human child?" the Giant asked with a voice that shook the ground.

Timun Mas felt afraid, but she stood firm. "I came to fetch medicine for my sick mother. There is only one magical plant in this forest that can cure her. I must take it."

The Green Giant laughed loudly, his voice reverberating throughout the forest. "Medicine? You think I'll just let you take it? Hahaha! I will stop you before you can reach your goal!"

With his massive hand, the Giant stepped closer, and Timun Mas knew this was the greatest test of her life. Without much thought, she opened the small pouch her mother had given her. Inside were several magical objects: magical seeds that could turn into defensive plants, a small mirror that could confuse an enemy, and a small knife that could cut through anything in her way.

The Giant moved closer, and Timun Mas quickly threw the magical seeds onto the ground. Large, thorny plants instantly grew, blocking the Green Giant's path. However, the Giant was undeterred. With one blow, he tore down the plants and approached again.

"It's useless, little child! You can't fight my strength!" the Giant roared, getting closer with the intent to capture Timun Mas.

Timun Mas felt anxious, but she couldn't give up. With growing courage, she utilized the mirror her mother had given her. She aimed it at the Giant's eyes, which immediately became confused and disoriented. The Green Giant began to stagger, yet still tried to get closer to Timun Mas.

"Don't think this mirror can defeat me!" the Giant growled.

But at the right moment, Timun Mas used the small knife to cut a path toward the cave, using every opening she could find to run away as fast as possible. The forest that once felt frightening now became a battleground between wits and unstoppable force.
